A Midsummer Social 2022

Where: July 19th time 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
When:  Brewers@4001Yancey (4001-A Yancey Road, Charlotte, NC)

Please join us for A Midsummer Social to celebrate your published words and to look ahead to the 2022-2023 program year which kicks off in September.

We’re hoping that you will come and bring a friend! RSVP here.

CWC members: While you hobnob with fellow writers, your first drink and assorted nibbles are on us!

Bring your books, your collections of poetry, anthologies and journals that your work has been published in. Show them off and maybe even sell a few.

Centennial T-shirt

You will also have the opportunity, if you donate $25 or more, to claim your free Centennial T-shirt, as our thank you for your contribution to our ongoing programs.

Swag Bag

If you paid for the Gala and then either forgot to pick up your swag bag or were unable to attend, we’ll have swag bags at the social—so stop by the brewery and pick yours up.

Business Meeting

During the brief business meeting we will vote on the 2022-2023 executive board which will lead the club into the next century. Outgoing president Caroline Kane Kenna will preside over the election and install those who are present.

Here is the proposed slate of executive officers:

  • President: David Collins. You know him from his excellent work on the Gala Like No Other and as our program-planner extraordinaire.

  • VP of Membership: Axel Dahlberg. Axel has been our membership Guru for the past two years and served last year was the Student Engagement coordinator.

  • Treasurer: Lisa Otter Rose. Lisa is the newest member of the team but has already been hard at work for the CWC.

  • Immediate Past President: Caroline Kane Kenna (a non-voting member)

Dave will introduce his team and give you the latest on the CWC’s next event at the Mint on Randolph with Therese Anne Fowler. The Book & Author Talk will take place on Sunday evening, October 2nd at 6:00 p.m. Dave will also provide a sneak peek at what we’re planning for meetings in the last quarter of our 100th Year of Words.

Enter the brewery and tell the host/hostess you are with the CWC. They’ll direct you to the section set aside for us. There are a few parking spaces on both sides of Yancey Road, but you’re more likely to find a spot in the parking lot. The entrance is on the left about 150 yards after you turn from the Old Pineville Road onto Yancey.

Are you willing to join the team and help us into the future? Here’s what we need:

  • Critique Groups Coordinator

  • Webmaster

  • Publicity Team

  • Co-chairs to run our contests

  • Co-Programming Chair

  • Co-Emcee for Open Mic Night

  • Secretary

  • VP/President Elect

The CWC is a volunteer organization and functions best when all of our leadership roles are filled. At the moment there are ample opportunities to do your part and one of these positions has to be “just right” for you. Please contact Dave Collins ( to sign on.
