 January 2013 Meeting Photos
On January 15, 2013, we held our annual Selected Members' Reading. Before the reading began, Jerry Landry, CWC Contests co-chair, announced the winners of our 2012-2013 Nonfiction Contest. Then, 11 members of the Charlotte Writers' Club read from their poetry, fiction, and essays, including two of the Nonfiction Contest winners. The evening's MC was Gina Carroll Howard, CWC Secretary.

Below, members are pictured in the order in which they read.

NOT PICTURED: The third piece on the reading program was "The Neighborhood Bitch," a short story by Michael Sharon. Sharon could not be present, so Gina Carroll Howard read the story in his place.
Laura King Edwards reads from her essay "Sandcastles," which won honorable mention in the CWC Nonfiction Contest.
Kathryn Hack reads her poems "Smoke Dream" and "Cat Dancing."
Justin Hunt reads his poems "Half-Light" and "Requiem in Wide Open Minor."
Matthew Calloway reads his short story "Hoosiers."
Emily Kern, winner of the CWC Nonfiction Contest, reads from her award-winning essay, "Things I Cannot Tell My Mother."
Anthony Hardy, one of the selected member readers, stands for a photo at the January meeting. He read his poems "The Gambol" and "The Portrait."
Richard Sharp reads from the prologue to his novel Crystal Ship.
Leslie M. Rupracht reads her poem "Because You Bought Your Daughter a Horse."
Kim Boykin holds up the cover of her soon-to-be-released novel The Wisdom of Hair, from which she read the first chapter.
Anthony Abbott recites from memory his poem "In Grand Central Station."
