John McGillicuddy is a writer and nature photographer whose career spans the arts, professional sports, publishing, healthcare, and government. He is the author of numerous articles featured in magazines and newspapers, and former managing editor of a magazine publishing company in the medical equipment industry. He also created and wrote “The Mecklenburgers,” an award-winning television program. In 2019, he was honored to receive third-place award in the Charlotte Writers’ Club poetry contest. Most recently, his essay “The White Section” was published in the 2020 Personal Story Publishing Project, “That Southern Thing.” Recent publications of his photographs include Murze magazine and Landscape Photography Magazine. John also has self-published a memoir, a novel and five books of his photography. Currently, he is working on a book of poems.
In 2014, after retiring as assistant county manager with Mecklenburg County, NC, John launched a management consulting firm. For the next three years, he provided clients throughout North America with expertise and training in organizational strategy, performance management, and change communication. Now fully retired, John’s passions include writing, photography, traveling, running and playing competitive soccer. He lives in Charlotte and is married with two adult children.
