David Radavich's new book is published

Dear Friends, I am pleased to announce that Plain View Press has just published my new book, America Abroad: An Epic of Discovery.  In this wide-ranging narrative of interlocking poems, a variety of adventures take American explorers known and unknown to all four corners of the globe from earliest days of settling to recent exploits in outer space.

Jean Grant describes this book as “an amazing achievement.”  Christian Knoeller sees in America Abroad “echoes of Whitman in its sweep and grandeur,” while Joseph Bathanti describes it as “vastly imaginative.”

You can order America Abroad directly either at www.plainviewpress.net/gallery2/page/America-Abroad-by-David-Radavich.htm or at

https://www.amazon.com/America-Abroad-Discovert-David-Radavich/dp/1632100606/

I hope you will find something entertaining and engaging in this new book!

All best wishes,

David

Chris Arvidson and Caroline Kenna book signing at Knight's Stadium

For the second year in a row the Charlotte Knights will be honoring women who contributed to the game of baseball. This year Park Road Books is pleased to announce a collaboration between our store and the Charlotte Knights. When you purchase a ticket for the Women in Baseball Night, you will receive a copy of "The Love of Baseball" written by some amazing area authors.

"The Love of Baseball"  features thirty contributors sharing their personal narratives of how they found an abiding passion for the sport and how their relationship to it changed over the years. The essays begin with stories of spring training optimism, followed by the guts and grind of the regular season, and ending with the glory (or heartbreak) of the playoffs.

Authors: Chris Arvidson and Diana Nelson Jones, Henry Doss, Nancy Gutierrez, Stephen Ward, Elizabeth Leik, Dave Malehorn, Rebecca Layton, Victoria Stopp, Ellyn Ritterskamp, and Caroline Kane Kenna.

Tamra Wilson has co-edited the first-ever anthology of women's essays about their teen idols. Working with novelist/playwright Elizabeth Searle, the two compiled essays by 44 writers to produce "Idol Talk: Women Writers on the Teenage Infatuations That Changed Their Lives" (McFarland, June 2018). The foreword was written by Peter Noone, Herman of Herman's Hermits. Included are such NC notables as Jill McCorkle, Judy Goldman, Marianne Gingher, Marjorie Hudson, Susan Woodring, Amy Rogers and Lisa Kline along with NC native Stephanie Powell Watts.

CWC-North is co-sponsoring an "Idol Talk" celebration/reading at 2 pm Sunday, Aug. 12, at Main Street Books, Davidson. Presenters will include Wilson, Goldman, Rogers and Kline.

Emi Miller's book published May 28th, 2018

In Wisdom's Light, A Message of Peace for All People, Vol. I: If the Creator of All were a sun in the center of the universe, each religion would be as one ray of sunlight streaming into space. No single ray can see that all carry the same Divine Message, and have the same Source. 'In Wisdom's Light: A Message of Peace for All People,' reveals this truth through religious texts, mystical poetry, and ancient traditions. http://www.emispoetryandprose.dreamhosters.com
