Co-Chair of Programming

I moved to Charlotte in 1989 after completing an internship/job in Corporate Communications at a large insurance firm in Philadelphia, PA. I transferred my studies to UNC Charlotte and pursued a career in journalism. I edited and wrote for a small, local magazine in the early ’90s and held administrative roles at larger Charlotte publications. I later gravitated towards the finance industry and spent several years as a Retirement Specialist. After the birth of my youngest, I became a stay-at-home parent and worked part-time in the newsroom at The Charlotte Observer. While I thoroughly my experience there, my desire to become a full-time journalist waned, as did the newspaper industry.

I continue to write, however, more creatively now through blogging and in short stories. I have a children’s book series in mind, and perhaps one day I’ll finish that novel. In the meantime, I enjoy meeting, learning from, and supporting fellow writers in our community, particularly within an organization that’s been around for over 100 years.
