Jack Hemphill, 2015-2016 Charlotte Writers' Club President welcomes the members  back for a great new year.

Alan Michael Parker entertained our group with readings from some of his work.

Some of the poems he shared: My Hair, A Fable for Our Anniversary, The Ladder.  He also read from some of his prose: Hello This Is Your Mother, Springtime in Tampa, and Family Math.

Alan discussed that we are here to make the world a better place. 'Literary works of art trains the reader to to see and how to live awake.' It helps the reader to 'be awake about who they are in this world'.  When Alan was asked about the dangers in writing with sarcasm, his insightful reply included that 'sarcasm knows the answer', 'irony knows the problem', and 'satire is a loss cause'.
