In 2010, Tracy Himes began writing a local column in the Concord/Kannapolis Independent Tribune newspaper, titled “In H.O.P.E. - In Honor of Planet Earth”, covering environmental issues, wellness advocacy, local news and current events. Her first book, an electronic recycling resource, Think Outside The Bin:  Discard Your Common Household Items, Help Your Neighbor, Help Your Earth, was transformed into blog form ( and continues to get daily visitors.

Currently serving on the Charlotte Writer’s Club Board and a member of the NC Writer’s Network, Tracy often attends local writing workshops and conferences and recently won a scholarship to the Tinker Mountain Writers’ Workshop at Hollins University in June 2015, based on the merit of a submitted portion of her upcoming memoir.
